Modular Portraits: To Grasp Death

The series of artworks "Modular Portraits" is an intention of comprehending death. The artwork series was created after the death of the author's father.

Many family relationships are difficult to call simple and this relationship was no exception. After his funeral, when the author was touched by death, the author felt the will to understand this part of life, the end of life - death.

In the artistic plane, the final death of the individual is reproduced in a posthumous mask, cast from the face of the deceased. Therefore, after the funeral, the author wanted to understand the state of death and the place of people who now live only in our hearts thoughts, and memories.

How is it possible to comprehend death? How does it exist in our minds? The artist realizes these questions in the methodical work of reproduction of previously existing people. Imprints of actions and decisions are stored on the face. The shadow of something completely opposite to our ideas about ourselves and our actions can be reflected on faces. This is the quintessence of experience and life, which is reflected in a posthumous mask.

These portraits are dedicated to the author's father, his difficult life path, and the strength and joy of life in the face of death. One of the drawings shows his posthumous graphic mask. As long as there are memories, there is eternal life.
